Chelsea defender Andreas Christensen motivated to recover from mistakes

Defender Andreas Christensen says that he is motivated to recover from the mistakes that he has made in recent matches for Chelsea.

Defender Andreas Christensen has said that he is keen to show that he has recovered from making a number of errors in Chelsea's recent matches.

Christensen has enjoyed a solid campaign with the Blues, with 37 appearances being made in all competitions, but the Dane is currently out of the team having failed to continue his previous good form as well as suffering from fatigue.

However, the young centre-back is pleased with his first full season at Stamford Bridge, having previously continued his development with a two-year spell at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The 22-year-old told the club's matchday programme: "It's been a difficult time recently, but I'm happy with the overall season. It's easy to just look at the recent games, but I try to remember I played probably 25 to 30 games with no mistakes at all before that.

"Everyone knows you can't go through a whole season not making a mistake, as a defender - it's impossible. That's the bad part about our job - when there's a goal, there's a good chance you're the one getting pointed at, but you still have to take responsibility next time you get the ball and do what's best for the team.

"It helps when you've got good teammates who take care of you and a manager who believes in you. That's only made things more comfortable for me, and now I want to progress even more."

Christensen will hope to return to the Blues side when the club faces Southampton on Saturday.
