Chelsea submit plans for new Stamford Bridge stadium

Chelsea announce that they have submitted plans to build a new and improved stadium at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea have announced that they have submitted plans for a new stadium to be built at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues plan to extend the ground's capacity from 41,000 to 60,000, improve the stadium's facilities and also put in place a direct link to Fulham Broadway underground station.

The Premier League club's application will now be examined by the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, with the planning process expected to last beyond the end of the current season.

"A planning application for a new stadium at Stamford Bridge with an expanded seating capacity has been submitted. This follows a successful consultation process during which we received very helpful feedback," the club announced on their official website.

Chelsea have played their home games at Stamford Bridge since 1905.
