Chelsea and Manchester City are in competition to sign Napoli's Ezequiel Lavezzi.
The Argentine striker, who is valued at £20m, has also been linked with Inter Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.
According to The Sun, Lavezzi's representatives have delayed talks with the other European teams to pave the way for negotiations with the Premier League sides.
Lavezzi, who has earned 16 caps for his country, joined Napoli from Argentinian side San Lorenzo in 2007.
The forward scored twice against Chelsea in his team's 3-1 defeat of the Blues in the Champions League earlier this season.
