Jamie Carragher: Chelsea "wound up" Liverpool

Jamie Carragher explains the rivalry between Liverpool and Chelsea.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has admitted that the club have been "wound up" by Chelsea and Jose Mourinho over the last 10 years.

The two clubs have struck up a long-running rivalry over the last decade, with the two sides coming head to head in a number of cup semi-finals.

Carragher played against the Blues over 40 times in his 737-game career for the Anfield side, and he talked up how the rivalry was established to Sky Sports News.

"Roman Abramovich came in and changed English football really. Jose Mourinho came in and wound us all up with his arrogance," he said.

"He tried to take Steven Gerrard and we had the cup semis and fortunately it was us who stopped them winning the European Cup [in 2005 and 2007]."

Carragher retired in May 2013.
