Chelsea full-back Cesar Azpilicueta has admitted that Jose Mourinho's demanding style of management has helped him to improve as a player.
Azpilicueta said that, in particular, Mourinho has helped him become more versatile as he now feels comfortable playing on the left side of defence having previously only started on the right.
"I have almost played more on the left than on the right now. It gives the team another option," he told El Pais. "I always thought that the right side was my position, but I have improved on the left. It has allowed me to grow as a player.
"Everyone has a different view of [Mourinho], but look how he has improved the team. Since arriving we have worked very hard and should have won something this season. He is very demanding, and that is the only way the team can be better. The beauty of football is that, with many styles, you can be a team and can achieve glory."
Azpilicueta joined Chelsea from Marseille in 2012.
