Andre Villas-Boas: Chelsea attempting to reach Petr Cech agreement

AVB: Chelsea attempting to reach Cech deal

Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that Chelsea are interested in renewing goalkeeper Petr Cech's contract at the club.

The Blues shot-stopper, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004 from French club Rennes, will be out of a contract at the end of next season. However, his manager insists that the Czech Republic international is still part of his long-term plans.

"I see Petr as our long-term keeper," he said. "We are trying to reach an agreement with him.

"We haven't opened official talks yet but he knows there is an interest in renewing his deal."

Cech has made 232 appearances for the Blues in six and a half seasons at the club.
