Chelsea's Loic Remy hopeful of playing this weekend, despite groin problem

Loic Remy is hopeful that he will be fit to face Man United this weekend, despite Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho claiming that the forward should be out with a groin injury.

Chelsea striker Loic Remy is hopeful that his groin injury will not keep him out of this weekend's Premier League showdown against Manchester United.

Manager Jose Mourinho claimed that Remy could be out of action for a "couple of weeks" after he suffered the injury during last night's 6-0 win over Maribor in the Champions League.

Diego Costa is also a doubt having missed the Blues' last two games with a hamstring problem, but Remy is hopeful that his injury is not too serious.

"We will see with the scan," ITV Sport quotes Remy as saying. "I really hope it is not too bad. Fortunately I stopped playing because I felt something. I don't think it is too bad but I felt something. My groin.

"Yes, it's frustrating of course because I had a chance to play because Costa is injured but I am not afraid. I don't think it is really bad. We will check and I really hope to play again this weekend."

Mourinho has suggested that Didier Drogba could start against United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
