Courtois eases concerns over eye injury

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has played down concerns over his eye injury by insisting that it does not affect his ability to play.

The 24-year-old was spotted with a heavily bloodshot eye as he sat out of Belgium's 1-1 draw with the Netherlands on Wednesday night.

Courtois's absence sparked rumours about whether his injury would keep him out of action for Chelsea after the international break, but the shot-stopper has eased fears by claiming that he has been dealing with the eye problem for a fortnight.

On Twitter, Courtois wrote: "Everything's ok with my eye, had it for 2 weeks and doesn't effect my goalkeeping."

Chelsea will face Middlesbrough in the Premier League on November 20 before facing Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City.
