Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is reportedly ruled out for the rest of the year as the club's medical team decide how to treat suspected damage to his ACL.

Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell is reportedly ruled out for at least the rest of the year with a knee injury.

Chilwell, who has starred for the Blues this season, suffered the issue during the second half of Tuesday's 4-0 victory over Juventus in the Champions League.

Earlier on Wednesday, it was claimed that the 24-year-old would likely miss the rest of the campaign as a result of a suspected ACL injury.

While that is expected to be the case, The Telegraph says that Chelsea's medical staff will wait to see if the problem heals naturally before making any further decisions after scans were taken on Wednesday.

Should the injury not progress how they hope, the left wing-back will undergo surgery at some point over the new year.

The England international has made a total of 10 appearances in the Premier League and Champions League this season.
