Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Manchester United

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Man United

Chelsea will hope to avoid being leapfrogged by Manchester United when they welcome the Red Devils to Stamford Bridge for Saturday's blockbuster Premier League game.

The Blues were frustrated in a 0-0 draw away to Brentford in Wednesday's West London derby, bringing an end to their five-game winning run in all competitions.

Nevertheless, that point was enough to keep Chelsea in fourth place in the table with 20 points - seven adrift of leaders Arsenal - but Man United will overtake the Blues with victory on Saturday.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with the Red Devils, who deservedly beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 last time out.

Conor Gallagher

Status: Minor doubt Type of injury: Illness Possible return date: October 22 (vs. Man United)

Conor Gallagher was handed a start by Potter at the Gtech Community Stadium but only lasted 15 minutes before coming off. Potter revealed after the game that illness was to blame for the midfielder's early withdrawal, but he has been training normally since and should be fine for this contest.

Wesley Fofana

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Wesley Fofana continues to rehabilitate after suffering a knee injury against AC Milan, but the Frenchman is unlikely to be seen in a Chelsea shirt again until after the World Cup.

Reece James

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Reece James has been ruled out for eight weeks after suffering a serious knee injury against Milan at San Siro, meaning that he is set to miss the upcoming World Cup.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: Unknown

N'Golo Kante has now undergone surgery to address a troublesome hamstring injury, ruling him out of action for four months and ending any lingering doubts over his World Cup chances.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for this match.
