Chelsea team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Morecambe

Chelsea injury, suspension list vs. Morecambe

Chelsea begin their 2020-21 FA Cup campaign with a home tie against League Two side Morecambe on Sunday afternoon.

The Blues reached the final of this competition last season before succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to rivals Arsenal in the final.

However, a poor run of form in the Premier League has left Frank Lampard fighting to save his job at Stamford Bridge, likely resulting in the club legend placing extra priority on this contest.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up all of Chelsea's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their meeting with the North-West outfit.

Reece James

Status: Major doubt Type of injury: Knee/hamstring Possible return date: January 15 (vs. Fulham)

While James's knee and hamstring issues are said to be manageable in the short term, the right-back is unlikely to be risked against Morecambe. The England international is expected to return against Fulham later in the month.

Andreas Christensen

Status: Out Type of injury: Knee Possible return date: Unknown

Christensen has been unavailable since sustaining a knee injury during the game with Aston Villa on December 28. While his recovery time is unclear, the centre-back will not be involved on Sunday.

N'Golo Kante

Status: Out Type of injury: Hamstring Possible return date: January 15 (vs. Fulham)

During the second half of the defeat against Manchester City last weekend, Kante was withdrawn with a hamstring complaint. Lampard has revealed that no risks will be taken on the Frenchman for this contest.

CHELSEA'S SUSPENSION LIST

Chelsea have no players suspended for the meeting in the capital.
