Sunday's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup: Gianluigi Donnarumma, Declan Rice, N'Golo Kante

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Chelsea on Sunday, August 30.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Chelsea eye possible reinforcements.

The Blues failed to bring in a single player during the January window, despite seeing their transfer ban cut short by FIFA, but have already been busy this summer.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Stamford Bridge.

Sunday morning's Chelsea transfer talk news roundup:

Chelsea 'in talks over £50m Gianluigi Donnarumma deal'

Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with AC Milan over a potential deal for goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma this summer.

The Blues have already been one of the most active clubs in the transfer market ahead of the 2020-21 season but are still eyeing further additions, with a new keeper now one of Frank Lampard's top priorities.

Kepa Arrizabalaga was heavily criticised last season and ended the campaign with the worst save percentage in the Premier League, prompting Lampard to consider replacements for the world's most expensive keeper.

Football Insider reports that Chelsea have now opened talks with Milan over a deal for Donnarumma, who has just one year remaining on his current contract at San Siro.

However, Milan are still holding out for a £50m offer for the 21-year-old, who has already made more than 200 first-team appearances for the club having broken into the senior set-up at the age of just 16.

Chelsea have also been linked with Rennes goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, but have been put off by the Ligue 1 outfit's £45m asking price.

Chelsea 'to sell N'Golo Kante for Declan Rice funds'

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has reportedly given the green light for the club to sell N'Golo Kante this summer in order to raise funds for Declan Rice.

The Blues are understood to have set their sights on the West Ham United midfielder, who could cost them as much as £80m to take their summer spending to more than £250m.

However, the club's hierarchy have told Lampard that he must first sell players in order to raise funds for Rice.

Football Insider claims that Lampard has identified Kante as one of the players he could offload and that he has told the Frenchman that he is free to leave the club.

Chelsea are expected to demand a fee of at least £60m for the 29-year-old, who was named the PFA Player and FWA Footballer of the Year in 2016-17.

Kante missed a large chunk of last season through injury, though, and speculation regarding his future at Stamford Bridge has steadily grown amid rumoured interest from Inter Milan.

Chelsea have been one of the most active clubs in this summer's transfer window, already bringing in Hakim Ziyech, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva, with Kai Havertz expected to follow too.
