Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has revealed the rollercoaster of emotions that he experienced while watching Chelsea's Champions League final against Bayern Munich.
Ivanovic was suspended for the game, but saw his teammates beat Bayern on penalties at their home ground to win the coveted trophy.
However, the Serbia international admits that it was by no means easier to watch the game than it would have been to play in it.
"Many times it is said that some matches are harder to watch than play, and I would say that the Champions League final is at the top of the list," Ivanovic told Sportski zurnal.
"I was so nervous that it was hard to watch. The hardest was in extra time and at penalties.
"If you play, you do your job. If you sit in the stadium, you are powerless. You can just watch what is going on, you can't help your team. But in the end everything was superb so I was as happy as a child."
Ivanovic joined Chelsea in 2008, winning three FA Cups and a Premier League title to go alongside his Champions League crown in that time.
