Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo wants their FA Cup semi-final encounter moved to a Friday night in order to aid their Champions League challenge.

Chelsea interim boss Roberto Di Matteo has called on the Football Association to aid the club's Champions League challenge.

If Chelsea were to triumph over Benfica in their Champions League quarter-final, they would face an FA Cup semi-final on Sunday April 19, before a European semi-final three days later.

Di Matteo reportedly wants the FA Cup semi-final moved to the Friday night, in order to give the club the best chance of European success.

"We absolutely need more assistance over our fixtures as the schedule here does not help English teams in Europe. We're engaged with the FA but ultimately someone has to make the call," Di Matteo told The Sun.

Chelsea face Benfica in their first-leg encounter on Tuesday.
