Half-Time Report: Chelsea in control at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea in control at Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have headed into half time with a 3-1 lead on aggregate against Galatasaray following two first-half goals in the Champions League this evening.

The home side saw the majority of the ball in the opening minutes of the match, and were able to take an early lead when Oscar slid the ball forward for Samuel Eto'o to drill under Fernando Muslera.

The striker continued to look sharp, and seemed keen to add his second shortly after, but he was unable to recover from a poor first touch.

The Turkish side thought that they should have had a penalty when Didier Drogba claimed that Cesar Azpilicueta handled the ball, but the referee was not interested in awarding the spot kick.

Galatasaray's first real chance of the night fell to Felipe Melo, who broke from midfield before blasting a low shot well wide from the edge of the box.

However, Chelsea were able to double their lead on the night with a second shortly before half time, as Gary Cahill tapped in after John Terry had a shot saved following a corner.
