Southend United sign Charlton Athletic youngster Joe Pigott

Charlton Athletic striker Joe Pigott has joined Southend United on a one-month loan deal.

The 21-year-old, who spent time on loan with Newport County earlier in the season, impressed Blues boss Phil Brown during a recent friendly encounter.

"We're looking for goals and Joe's hold up play and movement is good," Brown told the club's official website.

"He caught our eye in the behind closed doors game against Charlton the other week. He was impressed with the way we played as well.

"He's one of the best finishers at Charlton and I'm hoping he can bring goals to the team. I don't want to put pressure on him."

Pigott scored three goals during his six outings for Newport.
