Chris Powell admits that it "wasn't to be" in his side's defeat to Middlesbrough.

Chris Powell has admitted that it "wasn't to be" in his side's defeat against Middlesbrough.

With 18 minutes remaining Lukas Jutkiewicz headed in to give Boro a slender victory.

Speaking to BBC Sport, Powell said: "Sometimes there's games when you just have to accept it's not going to flow the way you want and it wasn't to be today.

"We didn't have that spark that I expected from our first home match of the season."

The defeat means Charlton are pointless from their first two Championship matches.
