Half-Time Report: Charlton Athletic 2-0 Leicester City

Charlton 2-0 Leicester

First-half goals from Bradley Wright-Phillips and Yann Kermongant have given Charlton Athletic a 2-0 half-time lead over Leicester City at the Valley.

The newly-promoted Addicks went ahead against the run of play, with Leicester's Lloyd Dyer wasting a great chance from eight yards before Wright-Phillips opened the scoring.

Charlton's top-scorer from last season opened up his account in the Championship with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Chris Powell, who was once a coach under Foxes boss Nigel Pearson, had reason to celebrate further just past the half-hour when former City player Kermongant doubled his side's advantage.

He headed in from a Johnnie Jackson's corner on 32 minutes to put Charlton on course for victory over one of the pre-season promotion favourites.
