UEFA to change Champions League kickoff times

UEFA announces that it will change the kickoff times of matches in the Champions League from the 2018-19 season onwards.

UEFA has announced that it will change the kickoff times of Champions League games from the 2018-19 season.

Matches in Europe's premier club competition have traditionally begun at 7.45pm UK time since the tournament's inception.

However, UEFA is set to adopt the Europa League format of two separate kickoff times, with matches changing to begin at 6pm UK and 8pm UK.

European football's governing body is hopeful that the changes will allow fans to see more live games than they would with matches all kicking off at the same time.

The announcement is the latest in a line of changes to the sport at the highest level, with FIFA currently considering drastic alterations to the World Cup.
