Celtic land PSG striker Edouard on loan

Celtic have agreed a deal with Paris Saint-Germain for the season-long loan of highly-rated teenage striker Odsonne Edouard.

The Scottish champions have the option to purchase the 19-year-old on a permanent deal next summer if he impresses over the next eight months or so.

Edouard was loaned to Toulouse last season but had his contract terminated in April due to a controversial incident that saw him allegedly fire a pellet gun at a pedestrian.

After netting an impressive 47 goals in 36 appearances for PSG's B team prior to that, though, Celtic have decided to take a punt on the Frenchman and managed to get a deal finalised with a couple of hours to spare.

Speaking to his new club's official website, he said: "I am absolutely delighted to be joining Celtic, one of the world's truly great football clubs, and I can't wait to wear the famous Celtic jersey.

"I am really looking forward to meeting my new team-mates and we will work hard together to bring our fans as much success as possible."

Edouard is Celtic's fifth signing of the summer, joining Jonny Hayes, Kundai Benyu, Olivier Ntcham and Patrick Roberts at Parkhead.
