Celtic, Inverness Caledonian Thistle finish level

Inverness Caledonian Thistle secure a 1-1 draw with Celtic in the Scottish Premiership after Edward Ofere cancels out an early goal from Leigh Griffiths.

Celtic and Inverness Caledonian Thistle have played to a 1-1 draw in the Scottish Premiership, with both goals coming in the first four minutes.

The visitors were ahead just two minutes after kickoff as a high ball forward from the back fell to Leigh Griffiths, leaving the striker to lash it into the top corner.

The lead lasted for just over a minute though as Edward Ofere scrambled the ball over from close range despite Virgil van Dijk trying to clear it off the line.

Inverness had to change their keeper midway through the first half as Dean Brill picked up an injury, but Ryan Esson quickly proved himself, saving a shot from Stefan Johansen just a couple of minutes after taking over between the posts.

Scott Brown and Griffiths both had a couple of chances to restore Celtic's lead before the break, but the home side defended solidly to leave the teams level at the interval.

Inverness could have gone ahead for the first time in the match shortly after the restart when Josh Meekings tried to head in from a corner, but he nodded the ball just wide.

Chances were few and far between for much of the second period, but the hosts continued to look lively going forward, and had another opportunity to go ahead when David Raven drove the ball from outside the box after Celtic failed to clear from a corner, but he sliced it high.

There was more danger for the visitors when a long clearance from Esson forced Nir Bitton to turn the ball behind for a corner inside the final 10 minutes.

Celtic quickly cleared though, and were on the attack again in stoppage time in a bid to find a late winner, but Stuart Armstrong's long-range effort was held by Esson, ensuring that the teams finished level.

The result leaves Celtic eight points clear at the top of the table, while Inverness are third.
