Neil Lennon interested in returning to Celtic after Ronny Deila departure

Neil Lennon admits that he would be interested in returning to Celtic as manager following Ronny Deila's decision to leave at the end of the season.

Neil Lennon has confirmed that he would be interested in returning to Celtic as manager after Ronny Deila announced his departure.

The Norwegian has decided to leave the Scottish giants at the end of the season.

Deila replaced Lennon in 2014 and went on to win the Scottish League Cup and Premiership title in his first season in charge at Parkhead.

The club are on course to claim their fifth consecutive league title as they have an eight-point lead in the table, but they disappointed in Europe and were beaten on penalties by arch rivals Rangers in the Scottish Cup semi-finals last weekend.

Lennon, who is out of work after leaving Bolton Wanderers in March, spent four years in charge of Celtic, winning five league titles, four Scottish Cups and two League Cups.

When asked by Sky Sports News if he would be interested in returning to Parkhead, Lennon said: "That is a 54 million dollar question. I've never hidden my affinity for the club. Would I like to go back? If the opportunity arose and the opportunity to speak to the board, then absolutely."

Former Everton and Manchester United boss David Moyes is currently the bookmakers' favourite to be appointed as Deila's successor.
