Defender Adam Matthews wants to stay at Celtic

Adam Matthews wants to remain at Celtic next season, insisting that he is "happy" at the club.

Adam Matthews has insisted that he is "happy" at Celtic, despite reports claiming he could make a move to the Premier League.

The Welsh international saw his teammate Joe Ledley head to Crystal Palace from Celtic in January.

However, the 22-year-old defender was quick to quash any suggestions that he would be following suit.

Asked if he would be interested in following Ledley's path to England, Matthews told reporters: "Me? I haven't really thought about playing in the Premier League myself.

"I've still got two seasons left on my contract with Celtic and I'm happy here. I'm just looking forward to playing for Celtic again next season and helping us do well."

Matthews joined Celtic in 2011 from Cardiff City.
