Heidar Helguson to leave Queens Park Rangers

Helguson heads for Cardiff City

Queens Park Rangers striker Heidar Helguson has edged closer to leaving the club and joining Cardiff City.

The 34-year-old is believed to be surplus to requirements at Loftus Road after manager Mark Hughes brought in Andy Johnson and Junior Hoilett.

Helguson has been in talks with Cardiff and he is close to agreeing a one-year deal at the Championship side.

Helguson has plenty of experience in the division and netted 13 goals for Queens Park Rangers when they sealed their promotion to the Premier League in the 2010-11 season.
