Cardiff City sign 'quarterback' Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Heerenveen

Cardiff sign Eikrem from Heerenveen

Cardiff City have announced the signing of Magnus Wolff Eikrem from Heerenveen.

The 23-year-old Norwegian, formerly of Manchester United's youth, links up with new Cardiff manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for a second time after playing under him at Molde.

Solskjaer said that he felt "lucky" to be working with Eikrem again and described his playing style as "quarterback"-like.

"I've known Magnus for many years, having worked with him at Manchester United and then signing him for Molde," Solskjaer told the club website.

"While I was there I had to sell him [to Heerenveen] as he was our best player - and now I feel lucky to get to sign him again for Cardiff City for a reasonable price. I see this as money well spent.

"He's a playmaker, a quarterback if you will, someone who likes to get on the ball and can see a pass. He's technically very good, including set pieces and has great vision."

Eikrem, who was spotted in the stands during Cardiff's FA Cup victory at Newcastle United on Saturday, moves to the Welsh capital for an undisclosed fee and will wear the number 15 shirt.

He could make his debut in Saturday's Premier League home game against West Ham United.
