Cardiff City, Brighton & Hove Albion play out goalless draw

Cardiff City and Brighton & Hove Albion play out a goalless draw at the Cardiff City Stadium in the Championship, despite the hosts dominating the encounter.

Cardiff City and Brighton & Hove Albion have played out a tame goalless encounter in the Championship this evening.

The game's first chance did not arrive until the 12th minute when Peter Whittingham broke down the wing to produce a cross for frontman Kenwyne Jones, but he headed the wrong side of the right post.

City's Stuart O'Keefe was afforded space in the first period and he looked to make use of it by turning in a delivery into the path of Sean Morrison, whose header failed to test David Stockdale.

In a half in which they managed to muster few chances, Brighton might have taken a lead into the break had Lewis Dunk been a little more accurate, after he headed wide from Joao Teixeira's set-piece delivery.

Russell Slade's charges came out of the traps quickest in the second half and they almost grabbed the opener when Aron Gunnarsson leapt to meet Craig Noone's delivery, only for Stockade to produce another good save.

Brighton appeared limited going forward in both halves, although Dunk was wasteful again in the 70th minute following a headed effort sent wide to the left of Stockdale's goal.

Cardiff continued to create chances with balls into the box, but they were unable to make the most of their dominance, with Ecuele Manga's headed chance summing up a rather listless night for the hosts.
