Neil Warnock: 'No extra pressure from Cardiff City board'

Boss Neil Warnock says that he is not under any extra pressure from the Cardiff City board to deliver promotion, despite the club closing in on a top-flight return.

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock has suggested that he has not come under any extra pressure to deliver promotion to the Premier League this season.

At the beginning of August, Cardiff were considered outsiders to make a bid for the Championship playoffs, but the Welsh side are currently in a position where 14 points from their remaining seven matches will guarantee a place in the top flight next season.

However, despite the Bluebirds closing in on what was once regarded as an unlikely promotion, Warnock insists that owner Vincent Tan remains relaxed over the possibility of another year among English football's elite.

Warnock told The Guardian: "I said to Vincent the other day: 'We're almost in the playoffs guaranteed, so if we didn't win automatic we'd be in the playoffs. And if we didn't win the play-offs we'd have another go next year.'

"He was ok with that. I'm not saying that underneath he's not desperate to get back, I'm sure he is, but they'e not put any pressure on me, the board."

Cardiff currently face a six-point deficit to leaders Wolverhampton Wanderers, whom they host on Friday night.
