Tan upbeat on Slade appointment

Cardiff City owner Vincent Tan is confident that Russell Slade will be appointed as the club's new manager in the near future.

The Malaysian has turned to the former Leyton Orient boss after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's nine-month stint with the Championship club came to an end earlier this month.

Tan has confirmed that Slade, who resigned from his post at Orient last week, will take over the reins at the Cardiff City Stadium once terms have been agreed.

"We now have a little problem with Leyton Orient, but that is being sorted out," Tan told Sky Sports News.

"He is helping us a little bit on consultancy until he can sort out his contract. Then we can officially hire him.

"I think he will make a good manager for us. All I can say to the Cardiff fans is give him a chance, give him a break."

Slade led Orient to last season's League One playoff final, where they lost to Rotherham United.
