Malky Mackay: 'Andreas Cornelius fitness not an issue'

Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay reassures Andreas Cornelius that he should not rush getting back to full fitness.

Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay has revealed that he has told Andreas Cornelius to take his time in getting back to full fitness.

The 20-year-old club-record signing from FC Copenhagen has played twice so far this season due to a persistent ankle injury.

"We have sat down and spoken about it to him," Mackay is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "He realises that so there is no pressure.

"He is a youngster who has signed a long-term contract at the club, a five-year deal. He is here for a long time and does not need to come here and hit the ground running."

Cardiff return to action on Tuesday when they travel to West Ham United in round three of the Capital One Cup.
