Dundee respond to rumours boss Paul Hartley is wanted by Cardiff City

Dundee release a statement claiming that Paul Hartley will remain at the club as manager following rumours linking him to Cardiff City.

Dundee have released a statement claiming that manager Paul Hartley has "long-term plans to stay" at the Scottish club, following rumours that Cardiff City may be interested in the coach.

Widespread rumours have claimed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will leave his role at Cardiff following a four-game winless run in the Championship.

Hartley quickly emerged as the favourite to be appointed by the Welsh outfit, who were relegated from the Premier League last season, but Dundee have insisted that the 37-year-old is going nowhere.

A statement from the club read: "Regarding the recent speculation and reports out of England. The club would like to confirm that manager Paul Hartley has long term plans to stay at Dundee Football Club. Paul is committed to the club and is looking forward and focused on the upcoming derby matches this week.

"As a club, we are not surprise that speculation linking Paul to other clubs has come up due to the fantastic job he continues to do at Dens Park.

"The club and Paul see the solid foundation which has already been put in place as the beginning of a long term plan which will see Paul at the helm of the club for years to come."

Solskjaer has been Cardiff manager for just nine months.
