Mehmet Dalman: "I only have one candidate" for Cardiff City job

Dalman: "I only have one candidate in mind"

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has said that he has found his ideal candidate for the vacant managerial post at the Welsh club.

The Bluebirds are searching for a new boss after parting company with Malky Mackay following a public bust-up between the Scot and Malaysian owner Vincent Tan.

Dalman has his sights set on who he wants to take over, although he refused to confirm whether he had spoken to Molde boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer about the position.

"I have a preferred candidate," Eurosport quotes him as saying. "I only have one candidate in mind. I have not made an offer to anybody as such, but that does not mean I have not had discussions."

When asked if he had spoken to the former Manchester United striker, he replied: "I spoke to him many a time in the old days [at United]. I might have spoken to him recently, and I might not have."

Cardiff drew 2-2 at home to Sunderland this evening, leaving themselves 16th in the Premier League.
