Cardiff to reconsider red strip

Cardiff City's Malaysian owners reportedly reconsider plans to rebrand the club's kit from blue to red, despite outrage from the club's supporters.

The Cardiff City hierarchy are reportedly prepared to reconsider their original proposal of switching the club's traditional blue kit to red, despite fury from the supporters.

The Bluebirds' Malaysian owners initially put forward the idea of rebranding the club with a red strip in order to bring in revenue on a global scale.

Following a negative response from the Championship club's supporters, chairman Dato Chan Tien Ghee announced that the Welsh outfit would scrap plans of going from blue to red.

"There's a budget in place for new players to secure the next stage in the club's development," Cardiff chief executive Alan Whiteley told BBC Sport. "And that's been signed off and will be part of the new investment."

It is believed that the board will reconsider the notion during a meeting this week, where the club will also discuss transfer spending for manager Malky Mackay.
