Blake: 'Cardiff must get Slade in now'

Former Cardiff City striker Nathan Blake has expressed his belief that the club should look to appoint Russell Slade as their new manager sooner rather than later.

The former Leyton Orient boss is expected to be named as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's successor this week.

Blake has said that the Bluebirds will only be able to move forward when they have a manager in place.

"If Russell Slade is to be the new Cardiff City manager then I want to see him in place sooner rather than later," he told Wales Online.

"There seem to be a delay regarding the compensation to be paid to Orient to secure his services, well, I would like to see that sorted as soon as possible and Slade working as Cardiff manager as soon as possible.

"When you have a plan there's nothing to be gained by delaying things. Slade will need to get in the dressing room, get the players on side and get his philosophy across to them without delay. The quicker that process begins the better."

Slade resigned as Orient boss last Wednesday after the club rejected Cardiff's initial approach for him.
