Canada claim bronze in the women's football

Canada have claimed bronze in the women's football competition after overcoming France 1-0 at the City of Coventry Stadium.

France dominated proceedings throughout the encounter, registering an incredible 25 shots to Canada's four.

They twice hit the woodwork in the second period as they pushed for the winner, but Diana Matheson slotted home in stoppage time to secure the bronze medal for Canada.

The final of the tournament pits the United States against Japan on Thursday evening.
