A total of 4,435 people witnessed Cambridge record a 5-1 victory over Oxford United on Saturday afternoon - a game which was screened live on Sky Sports.
Simpson is hopeful that his side's performance at the weekend, coupled with their recent win against Burton Albion, will help to attract more supporters through the gate.
"It was a really good day, being live on the telly as well, and it was good to showcase a good performance. Oxford are a decent team at this level with a good budget, good players and a good manager, and I thought we well deserved the comfortable win we got," he told Cambridge Evening News.
"It was a really good day for the football club, with a good turnout from the fans and maybe more people around Cambridge watching it on telly, so maybe some of them will come along and pay to come through the turnstiles in the future.
"It was nice to get the win at Burton and then putting five past Oxford at home creates a great atmosphere. Hopefully that buzz will attract more people to come and watch."
The U's are currently 11th in the League Two table.
