Gaffney "really happy" to make Cambridge debut

Rory Gaffney has revealed that he was "really happy" to make his debut for Cambridge United during the 1-0 victory over Stevenage at the weekend.

The 25-year-old arrived at the Abbey Stadium from Limerick in January, but injuries had prevented the striker from turning out for Richard Money's men.

However, he featured as a substitute against Stevenage and marked his first outing for the U's by playing a key role in Harrison Dunk's stoppage-time winner.

"It was fantastic to run out on to the Abbey Stadium pitch for the first time and the fans gave me a great welcome," the Irishman told the club's official website.

"It has been a very long nine months since I signed so I'm really happy to have made my debut. It is always great for fans to show you their support and I really appreciate it."

Cambridge return to action tomorrow evening when they travel to Wycombe Wanderers.
