Hello, and welcome to Sports Mole's coverage of the African Nations Championship match between Burundi and Congo DR.

It's the final day of group games in the African Nations Championship, and we should have an intriguing match ahead of us. Burundi can qualify for the last eight with a point this evening, but Congo DR could eliminate them if they can record a victory in Polokwane.

PREDICTION! Burundi could perhaps count themselves fortunate to get past Mauritania in their last fixture after Selemani struck in the third minute of added-on time. Congo have shown that they have a mean defence, with the only goal that they have conceded coming right at the start of their encounter with Gabon. It has all the makings of a tight match, but I think Gabon might just edge it by the odd goal in three.

We are less than 10 minutes away from kickoff at the Peter Mokaba Stadium. The attendances have varied between 2,000 and 6,000 for the previous games at this ground, and I would expect today's attendance to be somewhere in the middle. Nevertheless, there has been a party atmosphere at the majority of the group games in this tournament, and I would imagine that it will be no different here.

The two teams have made their way out in South Africa. We should be underway shortly.

There are a few nervous-looking faces in Polokwane. There certainly doesn't look anywhere near between 2,000 and 6,000 inside the stadium.

We are underway in this final group game of Group D.

A long ball over the top nearly gets Mundele in on goal, but Arakaza was quick off his line to deal with the potential danger.

Congo look quick on the break, and they put a fantastic move together, before a cross from the left is cleared for a corner.

DISALLOWED GOAL! We have only had six minutes, and there is already controversy in Polokwane. Mundele reacts fastest after Arakaza spills a long-range effort, but the referee rules that he kicked the ball out of the goalkeeper's hands. I don't know about that one!

WOODWORK! What an effort from Kilitsho! The left-back is over a free-kick to the right-hand side of the penalty area, but he unleashes a driven effort that hits the underside of the bar and bounces clear!

There has already been two goals in the match between Mauritania and Gabon. Mauritania took a surprise lead, but they were pegged back within a couple of minutes, so we are as you were in that.

I was just about to comment that Congo DR had bossed the opening 15 minutes, but Burundi have raced up the pitch to score! It was a wonderful move which eventually found Selemani all on his own on the left. The Burundi captain appeared to have taken too much time, but he got his shot away in the nick of time to find the bottom corner from 12 yards.

What a chance for Congo DR. Ndome was scythed down by Issa after a super run from the left, which resulted in the Burundi defender being booked. However, Arakaza guessed right to save from Mundele, but in truth, it was a poor spot-kick.

Finally, Congo DR get the goal that their play deserved. The ball fell to Mundele around 30 yards out, and after evading the attentions of the defender, he volleyed the ball into the roof of the net from 16 yards.

Maybe things will calm back down after that frantic 10 minutes! Congo DR should be a couple of goals ahead, with Mundele arguably having a hat-trick, but it hasn't gone for them.

We are still level in the other game too. There wasn't much point in the opening half-hour of either match, was there?

That could be the end of Yussuf Ndikumana's game. He falls in a heap on the ground after passing a ball, appearing to tear his groin muscle. He has been stretchered off.

Congo DR have had a massive 62% of possession in this match. To be honest, it seems like more than that.

Congo finally take the lead in this football match, and of course, it's thanks to Mundele. The striker has been involved in everything that Congo have put together, and after the ball arrived in the box from the right, he made no mistake in directing the ball into the bottom corner.

Congo are continuing to try to get the ball to Mundele, but Burundi are doing all that they can to starve off that threat. A third Congo goal before half time would all but kill this match off.

There will be three minutes of added-on time.

The referee brings an end to an exciting 45 minutes in Polokwane. Despite being second best, Burundi took an early lead, but a couple of goals from Mundele have deservedly given Congo DR the advantage.

It remains 1-1 in the game between Mauritania and Gabon. So then, as it stands, Gabon are going through as group winners on seven points, with Congo DR qualifying as runners-up on six points. That would mean that Burundi, who began the day at the top of the group, would miss out.

If Congo continue to play the way they are, Burundi will lose this match, so they need to change things up. If they can stop Mundele playing so effectively, they would have solved half the problem, so maybe they could man-mark the Bel Or attacker? It's certainly an option.

Burundi gets us underway in the second half.

Congo start the second half like they finished the first, but the final ball is lacking a killer touch.

SHOT! Mundele looks a class above anyone else on the pitch, but when he goes in search of his hat-trick, he fires the ball over from 20 yards. Remarkably, he has only featured in 18 minutes of the other two group fixtures.

Pembele, who has just been introduced from the bench, is taken out on the left-hand side to earn a free kick, but it's an abysmal delivery, with Arakaza easily claiming the ball.

EFFORT! Pembele has looked impressive since his introduction, but after cutting inside and drifting past a couple of Burundi players, he scuffed his shot straight at the goalkeeper.

BOOKING! I don't think that they come much more cynical than that! Selemani is racing down the left-hand side, but he is blatantly pulled back by Congo's Eric Nkulukuta Miala

Burundi are still struggling to create anything worthwhile on the Congo goal. However, there is goal news from Mauritania and Gabon...

Mauritania have the lead! That's great news for Burundi. If Gabon don't equalise, then they are heading through to the quarter-finals.

OUCH! Congo goalkeeper Muteba and Burundi winger Selemani have just clashed after they both dived in to claim a ball in the penalty area. The goalkeeper has come out of it with a blow to his arm and groin, while the winger is currently off the pitch with a kick to the face and a leg injury.

The Burundi player was booked for that incident. That's very harsh!

Congo make progress up the other end of the pitch to earn a corner, but it's easily cleared by Burundi. They haven't maintained the cutting edge of the first half, probably because Mundele has drifted out of the game.

BOOKED! Burundi's Moussa has flown through the back of Mavuanga, and he is rightly booked for the challenge.

Burundi have less than 10 minutes to earn something from this game, but Mauritania still lead against Gabon so they will be competing in the last eight. However, it only takes one goal from Gabon to change everything.

It's Congo who are providing all of the late pressure in Polokwane, but they can't do anything meaningful with the ball. There's been a goal in the other match in this group...

Gabon have equalised! That's going to move them into second position, leaving Burundi out of the last eight. Burundi need a goal!

There will be three minutes of added-on time.

That's incredibly greedy from Mavuanga, who shoots from all of 35 yards when he has a man over in support. As you would expect, the ball never threatened the goal.

The referee blows the full-time whistle, and Congo have defeated Burundi to qualify for the quarter-finals of the tournament. As for Burundi, it looks as though they are heading home.

There's even more drama in the other game. Gabon have netted a dramatic winner, and that goal will see them qualify as group winners, just 10 minutes after it had appeared as though they were going out!

In the last eight, it will be Libya versus Gabon, while Congo DR will be up against Ghana. Those games will take place at the weekend.
