Howe hopes for Vokes extension

Burnley manager Eddie Howe is keen for Sam Vokes to extend his loan spell with the club.

The 22-year-old has returned to parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers following a two-month stint at Turf Moor.

However, a hamstring injury to Martin Paterson could tempt Howe to make contact with Wolves regarding Vokes's availability.

"Sam will go back to Wolves, but we will be making a call to see how the land lies," said Howe. "Obviously losing Martin, we may well reassess that, but we're in Wolves' hands."

Welsh international Vokes joined Wolves in 2008 from Bournemouth.
