Burnley lineup vs. Sunderland: Predicted XI for Premier League clash

Burnley boss Scott Parker could be boosted by the return of three players to his matchday squad for Premier League clash with Sunderland at Turf Moor.

Summer signing Armando Broja is now "another week down the line" in his return to full fitness and he is closer to “possibly being involved” along with Axel Tuanzebe and Bashir Humphreys who have taken part in training this week.

Connor Roberts (knock) is another who will be assessed ahead of kickoff after missing the 3-0 opening defeat at Tottenham Hotspur last weekend, while Zeki Amdouni (ACL), Manuel Benson (Achilles) and Jordan Beyer (knee) all remain sidelined with injuries.

After starting with a back five against Spurs, Parker will consider reverting to a four-man defence which could see summer signing Kyle Walker move over to right-back and Oliver Sonne make way, while Maxime Esteve, Hjalmar Ekdal and Quilindschy Hartman could all continue in the backline.

No Premier League player created more chances on matchday one than Burnley’s Josh Cullen (five) - his most ever in a league game for the club - and he is likely to retain his starting spot in midfield alongside either Josh Laurent or Lesley Ugochukwu.

New recruits Loum Tchaouna and Jacob Bruun Larsen will both be pushing to replace Jaidon Anthony and Hannibal Mejbri on the flanks. Marcus Edwards is another wide option, but he could also be considered for the number 10 role behind either Lyle Foster or Zian Flemming up front.
