Jeff Hendrick eyes more goals for Burnley

Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick wants to score more goals having opened his Premier League account during the 2-0 win over Watford.

Burnley midfielder Jeff Hendrick has expressed his desire to increase the number of goals he scores after opening his Premier League account on Monday night.

Hendrick's first-half header broke the deadlock for the Clarets on their way to a 2-0 win over Watford at Turf Moor, with Michael Keane adding the second shortly after the interval.

The goal came in front of Republic of Ireland assistant Roy Keane, and Hendrick admitted that it was extra special to score with his national team coach watching on.

"I said in the team room before the match to Stephen Ward that I'd love to get a goal and it felt great to do it," he told Press Association Sport.

"It's what I want to start doing now, scoring a few more goals from midfield, and it's going in the right direction. I'm making a conscious effort to get forward a bit more, saying to myself 'I need to score more' and thankfully I've got two now this month. Hopefully I can carry on getting more.

"The game was on TV so I'm sure someone would have been watching anyway but it was good to get a goal in front of people like Roy. The main thing was the team getting three points but the goal topped it off for me."

Hendrick scored just twice for Derby County throughout the 2015-16 campaign.
