Dyche: 'Result better than performance'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has said that his side were far from at their best during last night's 1-1 draw with Barnsley.

Charlie Austin gave the Clarets a fifth-minute lead at Oakwell before Marcus Tudgay levelled the scores eight minutes before half time.

Neither side was able to find a winner after the break and Dyche admits that he was pleased to take a point.

"I am pleased with the outcome more than the performance," said Dyche. "I wasn't pleased with the performance, particularly the first half.

"But we demand a lot from the players and we have to be realistic and know we might have a soft performance every now and then.

"So within that, the major positive was that we came out of it with a point. But the performance, especially in the first half, was not something that I was enjoying."

Burnley currently sit 14th in the Championship table, having taken 27 points from 19 games.
