Brighton & Hove Albion defender Gaetan Bong says that he is disappointed about the reception he received from sections of the Burnley support.

Brighton & Hove Albion defender Gaetan Bong has expressed his disappointment after being booed by sections of the Burnley support last weekend.

The Cameroon international received a hostile reception during the goalless draw, a direct result of Clarets striker Jay Rodriguez's charge of discriminatory misconduct towards Bong, which was found unproven in an FA investigation.

Speaking to Sky Sports News at the Best Africa Awards, Bong expressed his dismay about being booed at Turf Moor.

"It wasn't easy because when I came here I wasn't expecting to be in this kind of situation, but like I have said before I am professional," he said.

"I have to do my job but at the same time I am a man, but for the issue I just try to move on because the most important thing for me was to say it, what happened, say some things should not happen.

"But now [the FA] make a decision and I cannot change it. I was very disappointed but my message for all African, all black people in the world to just, if something like this happens, say it. Don't have a bad reaction just say it because this shouldn't happen on a football pitch."

The FA and Brighton manager Chris Hughton have also condemned the fans who booed Bong.
