Zimbabwe reach African Nations Championship quarter-finals with Burkina Faso win

Zimbabwe have qualified for the knockout stage of the African Nations Championship by scoring their only goal of the group stage to beat Burkina Faso.

Ian Gorowa's side, who drew their first two games in Group B 0-0, threatened early when Peter Moyo's free kick had to be turned over the top by Mohamed Kabore.

Burkina Faso had their best chance of the opening half when Yelleboure Alassane Sango's lashed at goal and was denied by George Chigova.

The second half began in a lively fashion and the deadlock was broken in the 57th minute through Masimbi Mambare, who bravely beat Kabore to a cross to head in.

Zimbabwe qualify in second spot and will next play Mali in the last eight in Cape Town on Saturday.
