Brommapojkarna vs Malmo - prediction, team news, lineups

Malmo will continue their Allsvenskan title defence on Saturday, when they travel to 3Arena to face 10th-placed Brommapojkarna.

The home side have 19 points after 16 matchweeks and are six points and four places from the relegation playoff spot, whereas the fourth-placed champions have 30 points after 17 matchweeks and defeated Osters 2-0 on July 19.

Match preview

Brommapojkarna were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Hammarby on July 20, though boss Ulf Kristiansson will be concerned that his team surrendered the two-goal lead they had taken into half time.

BP had kept three clean sheets in their previous three games, and their loss against Hammarby was just the fifth time they have conceded more than once this season.

Kristiansson’s team won 2-1 in the reverse fixture this term on May 5, though they did lose seven of their prior eight clashes against the champions.

It should be noted that Brommapojkarna’s defeat against Hammarby ended a streak of three victories, but those wins were preceded by six losses.

BP’s 2-0 win against Osters on July 13 was the first time they had avoided defeat at home in five matches.

As for Malmo, they were arguably fortunate have kept a clean sheet when they beat Osters considering they faced three big chances while creating none of their own.

The visitors’ record of 0.7 goals conceded per game is the best return in the top flight, though they have only kept their opponents at bay twice in their past seven fixtures.

Manager Henrik Rydstrom’s side are 10 points from first-placed Mjallby with 13 matches left to play, with the two clubs set to face off against each other on August 9.

The Blue Ones' displays have been outstanding given they head to 3Arena hoping to extend their winning run to six games.

Malmo are also undefeated on the road in their last five outings, and they emerged victorious in each of their past three away from home.

Team News

Brommapojkarna will be without striker Nikola Vasic until August, meaning Ezekiel Alladoh is likely to continue to lead the line.

Attacking midfielder Adam Jakobsen could start ahead of Kevin Ackermann and Serge-Junior Martinsson Ngouali.

Malmo centre-backs Colin Rosler, Pontus Jansson and Andrej Duric are the most probable trio to appear in their side’s back three.

The visitors have a largely healthy midfield roster, and fans should expect to see Kenan Busuladzic and Otto Rosengren in a double pivot.

However, Rydstrom is dealing with injuries to forwards Anders Christiansen and Erik Botheim, so perhaps Hugo Bolin, Daniel Tristan Gudjohnsen and Sead Haksabanovic will start on Saturday.

Brommapojkarna possible starting lineup:

Cavallius; Andersson, Hovland, Bjorkander, Zanden; Ackermann, Ngouali; Irandust, Jakobsen, Lind; Alladoh

Malmo possible starting lineup:

Olsen; Rosler, Jansson, Duric; Skogmar, Busuladzic, Rosengren, Busanello; Bolin; Gudjohnsen, Haksabanovic

We say: Brommapojkarna 1-2 Malmo

Brommapokjkarna may have lost last time out, but their form was strong before their loss, and they could cause the away side difficulties on the weekend.

Malmo’s record away from home has been exceptional, and they have proven to be defensively resilient this term, so it would not be surprising if they narrowly won.
