Preview: Bristol City vs. Huddersfield Town - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Wednesday's Championship clash between Bristol City and Huddersfield Town, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Bristol City play host to Huddersfield Town on Wednesday evening looking to extend their unbeaten record in the Championship to five matches.

At a time when the home side sit in ninth position in the standings, Huddersfield are down in 23rd spot having collected just four points over the same period.

On the back of witnessing his Bristol City side lose their opening two Championship games of the season, Nigel Pearson would have jumped at the chance to post eight points from their following four fixtures.

However, there will be a sense of disappointment at that total not being higher with draws coming from winning positions against Wigan Athletic and Blackpool respectively.

That particularly rings true with the latter, with the Robins twice coming from behind to lead at Bloomfield Road before conceding a last-gasp equaliser to the Seasiders.

On a more positive note, Bristol City are now ninth in the table and possess a striker in Tommy Conway who has over-performed to earn a place in the starting lineup.

The academy graduate has contributed a total of five goals and two assists in all competitions, providing a much-needed bonus to a club who no longer need to look to strengthen their attacking ranks before the end of the transfer window.

From Huddersfield's perspective, they head into this fixture still looking for their first points away from the John Smith's Stadium.

That said, it is worth noting that their defeats at Birmingham City and Norwich City came by 2-1 scorelines, and Danny Schofield's team have improved since their opening three fixtures of the season.

Nevertheless, the Terriers would have been disappointed not to convert a 2-0 lead against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend into three points, instead having to settle for a 2-2 draw.

Chelsea loanee Tino Anjorin made his first real contribution in a Huddersfield shirt, his first strike being one of the goals of the weekend as he found the far corner from distance.

However, the Yorkshire side are still looking for their first clean sheet of the season, and it would take a brave person to back that to come at the home of their free-scoring opponents.

Team News

Matty James and Andy King are both pushing for starts in the Bristol City midfield, although only one of the duo are likely to come into the side.

With Antoine Semenyo only making his return from injury at the weekend, Chris Martin is likely to replace Nahki Wells if Pearson opts for fresh legs in his attack.

Although Huddersfield are still trying to get Anjorin up to full fitness, the playmaker should retain his place in the final third for this contest.

Jonathan Hogg is pushing for a return after a minor injury, but Tom Lees is available again after suspension.

The defender is expected to return to the back three in place of Rarmani Edmonds-Green.

Bristol City possible starting lineup:
Bentley; Vyner, Naismith, Atkinson; Scott, James, Williams, Dasilva; Weimann; Conway, Wells

Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Nicholls; Turton, Lees, Nakayama; Hayden, Russell, Rudoni, Ruffels; Anjorin, Thomas; Ward

We say: Bristol City 3-1 Huddersfield Town

After the topsy-turvy nature of the draw at Blackpool, Pearson will want his side to get back to business at Ashton Gate. Although Huddersfield are improving, we expect them to do just that, with Conway and co getting back on the goal trail to boot.
