Cotterill: 'Referee played too much added-on time'

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has said that he was disappointed with the amount of added-on time that was played in his side's 2-2 draw with West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup third round.

City held a 2-1 advantage at The Hawthorns as the fourth official signalled four minutes of injury time, but after the referee allowed a Baggies free kick to be taken in the 95th minute, James Morrison struck to earn his team a replay.

The decision to allow the game to continue has been criticised by Cotterill, but he was quick to praise his players after they secured a draw against Premier League opposition.

The 51-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "The game should have been over. We timed it from the second the four minutes went up on the board. Time was already up when West Brom had a free kick at the end.

"With their Premier League quality, they don't need any favours, but the referee has allowed them to play on and put another ball into our box. I feel for our boys, because they were excellent and deserved to win."

The replay will be staged at Ashton Gate on either January 19 or January 20.
