Murray: 'Brighton are exceeding expectations'

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Glenn Murray admits that the club have exceeded their own expectations since gaining promotion to the Premier League.

Brighton & Hove Albion forward Glenn Murray has claimed that the club's impressive start to the Premier League has come from good organisation in defence, rather than his goals.

On Saturday afternoon, Murray scored the only goal of the game as Brighton recorded a 1-0 win away at Swansea City, a result which sees the newly-promoted club sit in eighth place in the standings.

Murray has now netted four times in three matches, but the veteran frontman has put the club's run of form - which he admits has been surprising - down to the defence.

The 34-year-old is quoted by The Argus as saying: "We have done very well. We have got more points than we probably thought we would have. We have done it all while learning a lot about the league.

"A lot of the squad are new to the Premier League and it is a slightly different way of football compared to the Championship.

"It's a whole different ball game. It's about, more than anything, keeping the back door shut and hoping we can pick points up like we did here – nick a goal and nick three points."

Brighton are next in action when they host Stoke City on Monday, November 20.
