Brighton & Hove Albion defender Shane Duffy has revealed that he has been left impressed by new defensive partner Leon Balogun.
The Nigeria international arrived at the Amex Stadium earlier this summer, and the centre-back played the majority of the game as Brighton registered a 3-2 success over Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Duffy partnered Lewis Dunk throughout last season, but the Republic of Ireland international has suggested that Balogun has not arrived at the Seagulls to make up the numbers.
The 26-year-old told The Argus: "[Balogun] was great. He fitted straight in. He's a big character in the changing room already.
"You can tell. He's got a big voice and he's experienced. He's played in big games against big players. That's why we bring in players like that, in case something happens, injuries and suspensions, and they push us."
Balogun could deputise for Dunk when Brighton face Liverpool at Anfield this weekend.
