Brentford are reportedly keen on the summer signing of Luton Town's Alfie Doughty, with a number of other Premier League clubs also targeting the left-back.

Brentford have reportedly joined a number of Premier League sides who are keen on Luton Town defender Alfie Doughty.

The left-back - like the majority of his Hatters' teammates - navigated through his maiden campaign in the Premier League during the 2023-24 term.

Doughty was not an automatic first-choice option in his position at the beginning of the term, but his impressive performances allowed him to get ahead of fellow wide man Ryan Giles in the Luton pecking order.

As a measure of his importance, the 24-year-old only failed to start a single top-flight match for the Hatters after September, playing 37 times in the Premier League overall.

Alongside finding the net on two occasions, Doughty was also a notable source of creativity for strugglers Luton, providing eight assists for teammates in the league.

According to Sky Sports News, Doughty could be given a second chance of Premier League football next term, despite the disappointing fate of Luton in 2023-24.

Failing to win any of their last six matches in the top flight, Rob Edwards's men suffered an immediate return to the Championship, finishing in 18th position.

However, the report claims that Doughty could escape the rigours of second-tier football next term, with top-flight outfit Brentford keen on the player.

It is understood that the Bees are targeting significant reinforcements at left-back this summer, following Rico Henry's season-ending knee issue in September.

Although the 26-year-old is expected to be back in action by the start of the new term, Thomas Frank's side do not want to leave themselves as vulnerable to an injury crisis this time around.

As well as Brentford, it is believed that a number of other Premier League outfits are keen on securing the services of Luton's left-back over the summer.

Doughty is said to be open to a move back to the top flight during the off-season, having proven himself as a valuable asset at that level this term.

Hatters boss Edwards has stated that although the club are not desperate to offload key players, he cannot rule out first-team stars departing Kenilworth Road following relegation.

As reported earlier this week, influential midfielder Ross Barkley is said to be on the verge of joining Champions League-bound Aston Villa.
