Marinus Dijkhuizen "proud" to be Brentford head coach

Marinus Dijkhuizen says that he is "proud" to be appointed the new head coach of Brentford.

New Brentford head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen has said that he is "proud" to be in charge of the Championship side.

The Bees have appointed the former SBV Excelsior boss as Mark Warburton's successor at Griffin Park.

Dijkhuizen has admitted that he has been impressed with the style of football that Brentford have played in recent seasons.

"I have been to Brentford FC once before, with my father and brother, to see a game against Coventry City in March 2014," the 43-year-old told the club's official website.

"We stood on the terrace behind the goal and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of football. There was some very good play. We also loved the ambiance in and around the stadium. That is football at its best.

"I am looking forward to working with everyone at the club for a bright future."

Dijkhuizen will be assisted by fellow Dutchman Roy Hendriksen.
